Meridiana Fly purchases Air Italy

 

The board of directors of Meridiana fly SpA and of the control stockholder Meridiana SpA established the purchase and the integration of Air Italy Holding, an operation worth 89.9 million Euros. According to a statement of Meridiana fly, the approval of the integration project between this and the group depending on Air Italy Holding Srl occurred unanimously and will let the creation of a new carrier which will have a turnover of over 800 million Euros. The new group will operate with a fleet of 35 Airbus, Boeing and MD-80 aircraft for direct links mainly in Sardinia and other cities such as Naples, Turin and Verona and in a smaller degree to other Italian cities (Catania, Bari, Milan-Linate and Rome-Fiumicino). Charter flights will leave from the most important Italian markets (Bologna, Rome-Fiumicino, Milan-Malpensa, Verona) to several international destinations. (Avionews)
